We are living in a science-fiction world, and digitalisation and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies are changing all areas of the whole world, living, life, etc. What is our future, and what are the future roles, skills, and strategies of humanitarian leaders in this science fiction world? Digitalisation and AI are being applied extensively to the functions, skills, operations, and strategies of humanitarian leaders resulting in digital humanitarian leadership. Digitalisation and AI are profoundly affecting the traditional roles, skills, operations and strategies of humanitarian leadership. Humanitarian leaders now need to know how to use existing and emerging digitalisation and AI technologies for (1) their personal work/roles, (2) management and functioning of their organisations and (3) the humanitarian activities/operations of their organisations. This article discusses the use of these technologies in the above three areas. One profoundly significant paradigm for digital humanitarian leadership is game theory. Game theory can be used extensively for studying digital humanitarian leadership issues and developing the strategies for designing and applying humanitarian activities online and via social media by humanitarian leaders in an integrated model. Academics in humanity studies also need to understand, shape and implement these issues for a better academic program in humanitarian leadership. This is also an excellent area for building a career and work opportunities for academics. This article analyses the scope for, and the benefits, problems, and implications of these developments in humanitarian leadership due to the applications of digitalisation and AI in humanitarian leadership.
