A New Humanitarianism For a New Era

Presentation Description

There are countless challenges facing humanitarians - a global pandemic, funding constraints and pressures to decolonises - and we may never get a better opportunity to transform the humanitarian system.

In this presentation Danny will reflect on how Oxfam has evolved over the last 80 years, from small volunteer-led outfit to professionalised, global network. He will argue that it feels like time to evolve again – for Oxfam and for the wider sector – as we respond to a changing and challenging environment for humanitarians. The key will be to rebalance our collective focus on the ‘how’ alongside the ‘what’ so that we nurture a sector that is better at keeping people safe, shifting power, promoting accountability and innovating.
