Irene Scott specializes in connecting communities affected by crisis with quality information and building systems that allow them to play an active role in the decisions that affect their recovery. She has worked in the Pacific, South Sudan, Bangladesh, South East Asia, and Europe designing community engagement mechanisms, humanitarian radio, and rumour tracking programs. During COVID-19, she has been working with Internews to collect and analyse rumours shared among vulnerable groups in 16 countries and to support humanitarian and media communicators to understand and respond to the beliefs that drive rumours in their communities. Irene started her career as a radio presenter and digital storyteller with ABC Radio and Triple J (Australia), Paoa FM (Solomon Islands) and Radio Miraya (South Sudan). She is also in the final strides of completing her Masters of Humanitarian Assistance at Deakin University.
