Keumala Dewi has ten years of experiences in the nonprofit sector, and earned a bachelor degree in Social and Politics in North Sumatra Islamic University, Indonesia.
She is now working as the Executive Director of PKPA Indonesia Foundation/Centre of Child Study and Protection in Medan, North Sumatra, Indonesia.
Beside doing management and fundraising for her organization, she also works together with volunteer’s organization such as Australian Volunteer International to improve the capacity of her work. In the asistancy for the community, she also assisted the poor community in develop the economic empowerment program as the prevention of child labor.
For humanitarian action, she also has led several responses of disaster in Indonesia such as Aceh earthquake, Central Sulawesi earthquake and liquefaction, Sunda Straits Tsunami and West Sulawesi earthquake. Under her led, her organization also conduct responses of Covid 19 especially for sub urban and rural community who are affected especially in economic sector.
She is a national trainer for child save organization and trained at least 50 local and national organizations to develop their child protection policy and procedure. She develops several guidelines for the teacher in rural and sub urbans areas to develop the interactive education about health reproduction for youth and teenagers and child right promotion guideline by religion leaders.
In her organization, Keumala also build network with the Ministry of Educational and Cultural of Indonesia Republic to implement the program about prevention of human trafficking, and PKPA also serve cases about women who are become victim of human trafficking with the job offer or migrant worker as the way to persuasively ask the victim to go to the other country. PKPA support them with legal aid and reintegration to the family.
Keumala also works with the ministry of women empowerment and child protection of Indonesia in preventing Child Exploitation for sex in tourism site in North Sumatra. She also contributes her experiences and input in the formulation of Child Right and Business Principle’s toolkit for Palm Oil Sector.
Keumala is very enthusiastic to learn about women, children and youth development, evaluation and monitoring, economic empowerment and also fundraising strategies.
