Professional Bio

Dr. Gemma Houldey is an independent researcher, advisor and facilitator on wellbeing and organisational change in the aid sector. She has worked for over 15 years on human rights and humanitarian programmes, mainly in East Africa and Palestine. In 2019 she completed her PhD from the University of Sussex, which investigated stress among national and international aid workers in Kenya. Her book 'The Vulnerable Humanitarian: Ending Burnout Culture in the Aid Sector' will be published in 2021.
