Professional Bio

Cara Tabachnick has been reporting about crime, trafficking and human rights issues for publications such as Marie Claire, "O" Oprah Magazine, Bloomberg Businessweek, The Washington Post Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, The Guardian. She has worked in global media capacity development training journalists as  the Deputy Director of the Center on Media, Crime and Justice at John Jay College of Criminal Justice and as Senior Associate, Media Programs at Population Reference Bureau, where she trains female reporters in India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal and Africa on public health, including trafficking, gender-based violence and exploitation. In 2020, Cara started the Journalism Centre on Global Trafficking where as the director she works with journalists, humanitarians, and other professionals in the field to cover trafficking issues.
