Dr Sureka Goringe became National Director of UnitingWorld in July 2017, after two years as Associate Director. Sureka brings executive and board level leadership experience from fifteen years in the technology sector, ranging from venture funded start-ups to large public-sector organisations. Sureka has also served voluntarily as Chair of the National Committee for UnitingWorld Relief & Development (the board), and as organiser of the first UnitingWomen national conference. She is Chair of the Church Agencies Network (CAN), a group of 8 faith based International Development Agencies in Australia. She holds a PhD in Materials Science and is a Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. An Australian for 27 years, Sureka came to Sydney via university in England, with a childhood in Botswana, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
